Star Wars: 30 greatest moments not seen in the movies
4. Star Wars: Princess Leia
The five-part comic series Star Wars: Princess Leia goes into great detail about Leia’s feelings and exploits in the days following the Battle of Yavin. Not only is there a bounty on her head, but the Empire is also hunting down all other Alderaanians in existence. How she attacks the situation reveals a lot about her strength and resolve in times of difficulty. There is also some back-story to her motivators, namely the lessons from her father about preserving the beauty and legacy of Alderaan.
Along the way she runs into a loyal Rebel pilot named Evaan Verlaine, who swears allegiance to Leia as “Queen Leia Organa of Alderaan.” But that begs the question, “Can Leia be the queen of a planet that no longer exists?” The answer to the question likely rests on how many Alderaanians can be saved. Her mission is now locked, as she must rush to beat the Empire.
In other words, this comic series is the plot of Terminator on an inter-galactic, genocidal scale. And it’s awesome. Leia truly has to weigh life and death in Star Wars: Princess Leia, and the series is a superb addition to Leia’s overall story.
