Star Wars: Episode IX rumor: Scene involving Luke’s power is unnecessary

A recent Star Wars: Episode IX rumor involving a display of Luke’s power has been revealed. Yet, if true, the scene is completely unnecessary.

Another week, another Star Wars: Episode IX rumor has emerged. Unfortunately, this time, the rumor involving a show of Luke’s power, is not really something to get excited about. We have seen it before.

Coming from The Express, the rumor involves Luke taking out a Star Destroyer single-handedly; and when I say singlehandedly, that is exactly what I mean. With just one hand, he taps into the force and brings it down, crash landing on the surface of a planet from space.

Now, assuming that this rumor is true, because like all Star Wars: Episode IX rumors, they should be taking with a pinch of salt, this scene is completely unnecessary.

Don’t get me wrong, it would be a hugely impressive scene. Watching nothing but Luke’s mechanical hand appear via hologram on board a Star Destroyer, only for that said Star Destroyer to shudder to a halt, as if gripped by a hand, the lights aboard the Star Destroyer flickering and failing, to reveal nothing but the planet surface rushing towards it. An immense show of power, that many have been itching to see Luke perform.

And that is the problem, we have been itching to see something like this in the movies for some time. Luke is known as one of the most powerful Force users of his time, but we are still waiting to see that from him, a.k.a the money shot.

This scene involving Luke and Star Destroyer in Star Wars: Episode IX would be the perfect money shot, if it wasn’t taking straight out of the “Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Legends of Luke Skywalker” by Ken Liu.

Could they not have come up with something new and fresh? Rather than an unnecessary replica?

Giving us the money shot of Luke by replicating what has been told in one the novels just seems a bit naff; as if they were too lazy to come up with something new so they grabbed the first thing that sounded impressive.

I don’t know, maybe it is just me, it just feels like after wanting to get a display of how powerful Luke was with the Force, they would put something together that has never been shown, or read, before.
