29. Lando betrays Han (Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back)

Han and Leia found themselves on Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back and because Lando is a guy who is going to save himself (and his city) over everyone else, he betrays them. Right away, Leia doesn’t trust him, but as we learn in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Han has a much longer history with him (but still doesn’t trust him much).

While those two discuss not trusting Lando, Chewie is picking up the pieces of C-3P0 from a junk pile. Lando invites them all to get refreshments after he tries to charm Leia. They talk a bit about Cloud City on the way over and Lando makes a remark about making a deal that would get the Empire to leave them alone forever.

As Lando opens the door, they see Darth Vader at the end of the table and Han’s blaster is no match for him. Even though Vader could overpower everyone there, he still brings stormtroopers and Boba Fett with him to make sure Han and Leia don’t get away. Even though Lando apologizes and Han doesn’t trust him, it still has to sting a little that Lando would do this to them.
