24. Rey’s Force link with Kylo Ren (Star Wars: The Last Jedi)

In The Last Jedi, we see a lot more of the connection between Kylo Ren and Rey. We found out about her abilities after she first encountered Kylo in The Force Awakens, but she didn’t have a full grasp on what exactly she was able to do until she trained with Luke on Ahch-To. Even then, she only just barely started realizing her full potential.

While she was on the island with Luke, Kylo is able to make a connection with her and they can see one another. It was like Skype without needing the computers to go with it. Also, this moment gave us the awkward scene of Kylo contacting Rey with his shirt off. When they make that link, it causes Luke to go on a rampage thinking that Kylo was actually there somehow.

The Force link between the two is something that still has a lot of unknowns revolving around it. We have no idea why these two have a particular connection. And if Rey really comes from a family that isn’t noteworthy in the slightest, why would they have this connection? It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out with both of them in Episode IX. We may or may not get the answers we’re all looking for.
