15. Seeing Darth Vader suited up for the first time (Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith)

Throughout the prequel trilogy, we see just what kind of person Anakin is becoming after we start to see him turning towards the dark side in The Clone Wars. Palpatine finds a burned Anakin and gets him immediate medical attention. In addition to the medical attention, a suit is made that will essentially keep Anakin alive.

If you go back and watch the scene again, you can see how much emphasis is put on the look of the suit. I find a lot of things in the prequels to come across as cheesy. This moment might be a little dramatic, but we’re seeing how one of the most iconic suits in pop culture came to life. Although, the musical choice is a little too over-the-top for my liking.

What I like best about this moment is the fact that we hear what his breathing now sounds like before he even gets to walk in it. That sound is so crucial to the history of Star Wars. When you hear it, you just know that something bad is going to happen. There’s no downplaying just how important this suit is to Darth Vader being who he is.
