10. Luke’s death (Star Wars: The Last Jedi)

Over the years, there have been notable death’s in the movies, TV shows and even the books and comics. However, when it happens to one of the biggest names in the Star Wars universe, you take more notice. Luke Skywalker is one of the most famous names in the galaxy and we still don’t know what things will look like now that he’s gone.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi was a bit controversial for some fans who didn’t like the direction the movie went in, especially in regard to Luke’s story. Not only do you have his death in the movie, but we learn that he tried to kill Ben before he dubbed himself Kylo Ren (there’s more on that later, don’t worry). The characterization of Luke was definitely different from what it was in the original trilogy, but a lot of time has passed and we still don’t know the full story necessarily.

Just before Luke’s death, he taunts Kylo without actually being present. However, that takes up every last bit of energy he has and he just disappears much like Obi-Wan and Yoda did. He might be dead, but we know that he’ll appear in the next movie, so expect some more Force ghost action or at least some flashbacks.
