5. Luke Skywalker trying to kill Ben Solo (Star Wars: The Last Jedi)

Luke Skywalker is a man who has always gone with his gut instinct. That’s probably because of his powers, which likely give him a bit of an advantage. However, he knew that something was off with his nephew, Ben Solo.

In The Last Jedi, we know that Luke tried to train Ben, but in the end, the kid was just too powerful. This leads Luke to try to kill him. Due to his hesitation, though, he fails and Ben wakes up to Luke standing over him. Luke strikes down with his lightsaber but not before Ben can get to his.

The two get in a disastrous fight and Ben ultimately turns to the dark side and gives himself the new name of Kylo Ren. Luke comes to regret what he did, but he’s not the reason that Kylo is the way he is. He’s infatuated with his grandfather, who he never even knew. We see that in The Force Awakens.

Trying to kill Ben was something I never thought we’d see Luke try to do, but he let his fears get the best of him. The Jedi never killed people just because they wanted to like the Empire did. They only did it when absolutely necessary and one could argue that Luke thought this was necessary for the greater good. He wasn’t trying to be cold-hearted at this moment and we can see the fear on his face.
