1. Luke, I am your father (Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back)
While our top moment was a shocking one, it probably doesn’t come as a surprise that it takes the number one spot. This is arguably still one of the biggest moments in Star Wars ever. When I first watched the movie, it had long been spoiled for me, but the way they reveal it still made it quite the surprise.
Without the relationship between Anakin and Luke ever coming to light, Star Wars wouldn’t be what it is today. It’s a pivotal moment that changes Luke’s life forever. Leia’s too since she is also related to the infamous Darth Vader.
There isn’t a whole lot for me to say about this moment that hasn’t already been said. Decades later, that one line continues to resonate with people and has a huge role in film history. People who have never even seen the movies know about that line. And Yes, there are in fact people who haven’t seen any Star Wars movie still. I know quite a few of them, but they still know that Darth Vader is Luke and Leia’s father.
