The latest numbers for Solo: A Star War Story Blu-Ray sales are out and it grabbed the top spot, according to a new report.
Even though Solo: A Star Wars Story may have been a bust at the box office by Star Wars standards, the numbers for the Blu-Ray sales are just coming in.
And it’s not bad.
In just three weeks on the market, it’s been estimated that the Solo Blu-Ray has sold $18 million worth of Blu-Ray for the week ending September 30, according to The Numbers. That puts Solo in the top spot for the time period ahead of Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom and Hocus Pocus (which has been on the list for years).

For the year, it currently sits in the 13th position with Star Wars: The Last Jedi still holding firm to the top spot with $68 million in Blu-Ray sales. These are the most updated numbers the site has.
Worldwide, Solo earned $385 million ($213 million domestic) at the box office. These numbers are good for most movies, but not Star Wars where hundreds of millions of dollars are spent on the movies.
Then when you consider Star Wars: The Last Jedi made more than $1 billion worldwide, and The Force Awakens garnered more than $2 billion – making it one of the top grossing films of all time – you can see why there is disappointment on the part of Lucasfilm with the Solo box office numbers.
Home video sales are only a small part of the make up for some of movies – though The Force Awakens did extremely well in that category too. However, streaming has become such a huge part of our daily culture that Blu-Ray and DVD sales are bound to dip for movies across the board.
It’s why Disney is creating its own streaming service as it recognizes the need to keep its original content under its own umbrella in order to make more money.
Solo: A Star Wars Story Blu-Ray and DVD are in stores now. You can also stream Solo too.
