A new children’s-focused group of shorts will release soon to get kids involved with the storytelling of Star Wars.

Star Wars is going all-in on content for children. It’s latest venture is Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures, featuring shorts about many of the galaxy’s favorite characters.

The news was announced on StarWars.com, with a preview trailer featuring a number of the shorts coming up. Galaxy of Adventures is a great gateway for many new fans coming into the fold as parents look for ways for their kids to enjoy the franchise they love so much.

Galaxy of Adventures debuts with six shorts on November 30 on Star Wars Kids website and YouTube.

Why is this a big deal?

The first movie came out 40 years ago. Then, a new group of kids were brought the start of an amazing story that has spanned decades.

But as those kids grew older and had kids of their own, they looked for ways to involve their families in Star Wars.

Lucasfilm’s VP for franchis content and strategy told StarWars.com:

"“With Galaxy of Adventures, we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world whether they were ready to show their kids the films or wanted to find new ways to explore the content.”"

With how children consume content these days, releasing the shorts online is the right path. Children use smart phones and tablets and LOVE watching YouTube.

They also watch video and TV in small bursts, which is why many children’s TV programs are limited to 10- to 15-minute episodes.

Galaxy of Adventures is a good way to get children started, especially if they have been reluctant before. Based on the preview trailer, there are funny moments, lots of colors and moving parts, which should help keep the viewer interested.

While the debut comes with six shorts, new ones will be out next month in December and in 2019 as well.
