Netflix has officially announced when Solo: A Star Wars Story, the standalone movie about Han Solo, will arrive on the streaming network.

If you have been wondering, when will Solo: A Star Wars Story arrive on Netflix, then wonder no more. The streaming giants have announced their January line up, and the stand-alone movie depicting the origins of Han Solo is on the way.

Our buddies over at Netflix Life broke the news to us. You can expect Solo: A Star Wars Story to arrive on the network shortly after the new year on January 9, 2019. So less than a month to go everyone. Not too long now.

More from Solo: A Star Wars Story

This will be the last Star Wars movie to come to Netflix. Not because there haven’t been any new Star Wars films released since Solo. We know Star Wars: Episode IX is in the making but once it is released it will not arrive on Netflix.

Because by the time it arrives, the new Disney streaming platform will be available and as far as we are aware, all Disney-owned TV shows and movies will be moving over to the platform. Netflix will therefore no longer have the streaming rights for the movies.

So you will need either need to fork out cash for the DVD or Blu-ray copies or look into a Disney streaming service subscription.

This only applies to fans in the US, however. The details of how things are going to work internationally are still unknown. With the Disney platform only being available in the US for now. Netflix might still be available to stream the movies for users outside of the US. Again though, that is still unclear. As soon as we get more specific details we will be sure to let you know.
