Fans are choking for a Star Wars: Episode IX trailer and going off the rumors that could happen by Christmas. But it’s really unlikely.
I’m going to start this off by saying I really, really hope I am wrong. I would love nothing more than a Star Wars: Episode IX trailer to be released by Christmas. However, despite all of the rumors, all of the reports, it is looking really unlikely. In fact, if it doesn’t arrive by Dec. 20, you shouldn’t expect the trailer until 2019.
Here’s why.

With the sudden release of the new Hellboy trailer and with Mary Poppins Returns being released in theaters in the UK on Dec. 21, the only time left is ideally Dec. 20. The weekend will be saturated with everyone going to see Mary Poppins Returns, and the trailers that Disney will want to accompany the movie will more than likely be Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, Lion King, Dumbo and potentially Aladdin. After that, it will then be Christmas Eve and Christmas, and before you know it it’s the New Year.
In a nutshell, there is just very little room for a Star Wars: Episode IX trailer to be released without getting caught up amongst everyone else. And with Star Wars being such a big movie Disney will want to make sure they get the most out of their marketing.

It would make more sense to give us a trailer at the beginning of 2019 and not have it released amongst a bunch of other big movie titles. Super Bowl 2019, which is to take place on Feb.3, is a much more likely time to release the trailer.
There is always the possibility that we get a little something before, or on Christmas. We may get the official title of the movie, but a trailer is highly doubtful.
Again, I’m hoping, I am really hoping, I am wrong with this one. But being honest. I don’t think it is happening.
