Star Wars: Episode IX: A Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi theory

This theory is based on my observations while watching the Star Wars films and looking to a bigger picture. Star Wars: Episode IX could have the greatest of all twists.

Anakin Skywalker Darth Vader was lied to in Star Wars. He was lied to by someone he trusted – Palpatine AKA Darth Sidious. Anakin was told a Sith had found the path to being one with the Force, something that had indeed been founded by Darth Plagueis.

What was left out was that the Jedi beat the Sith to the punch. As both Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi became one with the Force while Sidious and Anakin were left to try to figure it out together.

Now for the what ifs: What if in A New Hope part of Obi-Wan’s sacrifice was to lure Anakin back to the light side? He allowed himself to be struck down and a Vader in disbelief checked Kenobi’s robe.

Obi-Wan did tell Vader he would become more powerful; something Vader craved. What better way than to show him.

That to me is when the switched turned and Vader knew Sidious had lied to him because Vader did not know that the Jedi could do that.

We also know that Luke Skywalker could see into the future. Being that Darth Vader was his father, one can only presume that Vader could also see the future. A future that included a grandchild who would want to follow in his footsteps.

Which could be why Vader destroyed Palpatine allowing himself to become one with the Force. Because he knew it would help his grandson to one day come to the same realization he did.

It could all come full circle in Star Wars: Episode IX. Perhaps a Force ghost Anakin or Kenobi will appear before Ren and that is when a switch will flip for him.
