Lor San Tekka

Here’s a character you probably haven’t really considered.

One of the most interesting parts about the time period that this show is set is that not much is known about what happened between Episodes VI and VII of the film series.

When The Force Awakens released, we were introduced in the opening seen to a character named Lor San Tekka, whom was unknown to the fans, but was revealed to be a friend to both Luke, Leia and also once knew Kylo Ren He somehow possessed of a map to Luke’s location after his disappearance.

While I’m not suggesting that The Mandalorian should be another story about the Skywalkers, the character Lor San Tekka doesn’t have any real back story despite appearing to have been an important character prior to The Force Awakens.

As The Mandalorian takes place over this time, it could be good opportunity to introduce a younger version of this character and develop his back story a bit.

San Tekka was said to be an explorer and traveled throughout the galaxy in his younger years, and when he was first introduced in The Force Awakens, he was found living on the planet Jakku, which is an isolated desert work outside of control of the Galactic Republic and First Order.

It is not unreasonable to suggest the San Tekka could cross paths with the protagonist of The Mandalorian over the course of his travels, or maybe they run into each other during a stop on Jakku.

Regardless of how they meet, his inclusion would help to further establish the character’s back story, and as is the case with Maz, it would further the connection of this show with the movies, while still making it its own unique piece.
