Yes, it has been confirmed that actor Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian in the next installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. However the cast and crew are teasing the return of another fan favorite.
Obi-Wan Kenobi as a Force ghost? Perhaps. Luke Skywalker’s return? Definitely happening. Anakin/ Darth Vader? We could guess for hours on end. One thing for sure is the Star Wars cast and crew know and are having fun with it.
The character in question is none other than — Han Solo.

Impossible you say? I say hold on because this could be interesting if it plays out. There are some different avenues director J.J. Abrams could go.
Let us start with an obvious one. Flashback, which would be quick and easy, and no one would be worse for the wear. Now then let us get into a slightly deeper thought.
What if someone brought Captain Solo back to life? What if someone achieved power over death? What if that was part of the twist in the final Skywalker chapter?
Could part of Luke’s projection have been he also brought Solo back from the dead? Is it part of his battle with Kylo Ren? To bring his father back? Not likely.
I subscribe to a flashback of some sort perhaps Leia as a moment where she sees Han and is remembering a key factor of their son’s upbringing. To me, that both makes more sense and fits better into the mold of the story.
It is not likely that Abrams will go off the rails with some far fetched idea that would further irritate and already irritated fan base.
To have Han Solo (if that is indeed the case) in the trilogy and stories send off is one that should happen.
Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled to come out December 20.
