Fan theory: Snoke and Kylo are the same person

A recent Reddit post suggests that the Supreme Leader was simply a figment of Ben Solo’s subconscious in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Supreme Leader Snoke. One minute, he’s a guy who captured the Star Wars fandom’s imagination, sparking countless fan theories. The next minute, he’s diced by his own apprentice, left to rot on his throne room floor.

While many of us may have thought that Star Wars: The Last Jedi would give some answers about Snoke, we were instead left to watch his quick demise. His death seemingly put a stop to theories regarding his mysterious origins.

More from Kylo Ren

Or did it?

In a recent Reddit post, one fan posed a pretty daring theory by suggesting that Snoke was simply a figment of Kylo Ren’s consciousness. Here’s the bold theory — ala Fight Club — from an ever bolder Redditor:

"“I would love to find out that Kylo Ren/Ben Solo was actually that powerful and that mixed up this whole time that he manifested Snoke into the physical world. It would speak to how ungodly powerful he truly is, and it would build on the new force related elements of the new trilogy.”"

This would completely change my view of Kylo. As it stands right now, I think he’s a whiny kid who couldn’t handle being the son of two legends or the grandson of Darth Vader. If this turned out to be true — well, my opinion would change. How powerful do you have to be to actually project a physical version of your consciousness into the real world, so real that other people could see it too?

The Redditor goes on to say that this theory would give us a look into how influential the Dark Side can be.

"“We’re promised so many things about how powerful the Dark Side of the force is, and how it’s a pathway to many unnatural abilities. What if Ben Solo was so powerful, that his conflicted mind manifested Snoke and Ben had no idea? Snoke then builds The First Order and “twists” Ben’s mind and turns him into Kylo Ren. Snoke tells Kylo to murder Han. Snoke speaks on Kylo’s insecurities and weaknesses like a voice inside one’s own head. Snoke comes off like a carbon copy of The Emperor but with a different look which would make sense if the person who made him was obsessed with that old story. This whole time Snoke causes so much chaos with Kylo Ren acting as his lap dog, but it was really Kylo Ren’s unearthed dark abilities giving the real orders.”"

Would it be cool if this theory came true? Absolutely.

It would honestly be more shocking than Snoke’s actual death. The thing is, I’m not sure I’d want it to be. I was like a lot of fans — caught up in the mysteriousness of the guy, wondering who he was and where he came from.

I’ve still got some hope that we’ll eventually get an answer, but his sliced corpse might beg to differ.
