The 81-year-old actor gave fans a look at how he’s training for Star Wars: Episode IX.

Lando Calrissian actor Billy Dee Williams recently shared a photo of his ongoing training for December’s Star Wars: Episode IX.

Williams’s character was noticeably absent from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, but Lando is set to return for the trilogy’s conclusion. Episode IX will be his first on-screen appearance since Return of the Jedi.

Honestly, the picture (which also features Dr. Philip Goglia) doesn’t offer much as to what Williams’s training entails. We know he’s been hitting the weights a little bit, but that’s about all we’ve seen. It’s still encouraging to see that Lando’s back in business. Depending on what happens to Leia in Episode IX, Lando could be the last man standing from the original trilogy.

I’m not looking forward to Episode IX as much as I should be, but I am pretty hyped for Lando’s return. For a minute in The Last Jedi, I thought we might get a glimpse of him when Finn and Rose made the trip to Canto Bight in their search for Maz’s master codebreaker. It would’ve been a golden opportunity to bring in Han’s old buddy, but we got left with DJ. No matter–J.J. is here to make sure the man gets his due.

If we’re being real here, Billy Dee isn’t going to be engaging in any serious stunts in Episode IX. Remember what happened to Harrison Ford during The Force Awakens filming? The dude almost got crushed by a hydraulic, but not before he broke his leg. I guess the carbonite wasn’t enough for him to know that smuggling is a dangerous business.

It’s going to be great to see Williams back in action in Episode IX, and this pic just peaks my interest a little bit more. Does he know Han and Luke are gone? Will he reclaim the Falcon? Will Chewie choke him out again? We’ll have to wait until December to see.

dark. Next. Lando is back for Episode IX: What does it mean for the trilogy?
