Our favorite Star Wars moments
Photo Credit: [Star Wars: The Force Awakens] LucasfilmNot being a fan of the prequels, it was an exciting idea that Disney would take the reins from George Lucas and start a new trilogy. It was time to get those old familiar feelings back for this much-beloved franchise.
Some might argue that Disney taking the mantle was a big mistake but from the very first footage, it felt like getting a hug from an old friend that one has not spoken to in years.
And this feeling can be fully encapsulated and expressed by one line of dialogue: “Chewie, we’re home!”
This one scene brought everything back to the fold in such a monumental way. It’s almost like a slogan for the Star Wars universe returning to its roots, bringing back the familiar friends we all know and love. It’s also the defining moment that connected everything new to the old trilogy. And I know for a fact I’m not the only one who got misty-eyed the moment it was revealed in the trailer, as well as the film itself. This makes it one of the most powerful moments in the new trilogy because it does so much with very little.
We can argue all day about the quality of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi but for a brief moment, most of us were unanimous in our emotion in seeing Han and Chewie together again. For a brief moment, we were not upset over which direction the Star Wars universe should go. We were just grateful to be home.
