This was one of several moments where C-3PO’s communicative skills come into action and save the day. In Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Luke, Han, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and C-3PO find themselves captured by Ewoks on the forest moon of Endor. Luckily for the group the Ewoks mistake C-3PO for a god and worship him.

Taking the group with them, Luke instructs C-3PO to tell the Ewoks that he will unleash his godlike power in which he levitates C-3PO using his Jedi powers. The Ewoks are convinced and do his bidding that includes releasing his friends who reunite with Leia. The quick thinking of both Luke and C-3PO save them from possible death.

Now allies, the Ewoks use their natural environment to defeat the Imperial forces towards the end of the film. Using homemade traps and weapons they are able to help the Rebels in destroying the shield generator.

This scene is comedy gold. As C-3PO is often seen as annoying and useless, his presence literally saved the group. Hearing C-3PO speak the Ewok language, with strength and dramatic body gestures is worthy of a few chuckles. More laughs ensue when the Ewoks run away terrified from a levitating C-3PO. C-3PO adds to the humor himself as he is equally as scared calling to R2-D2 to help get him down.

What makes this scene equally as interesting is the fact that even in a galaxy with great advances in technology there will still be places that survive without it. The fact that the handmade weapons and traps were effective on such powerful weapons like the AT-ST Walker is all the more mind-boggling. No wonder the Ewoks thought C-3PO was a god.
