New look Millennium Falcon

Nothing sells more toys than a new look. That’s probably not the reason we might be getting a new look for the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: Episode IX, but it doesn’t hurt.

We heard this rumor not too long ago from the folks over at Fantha Tracks. While it hasn’t been confirmed, it makes sense from what we saw in The Last Jedi. The Falcon was in a gunfight and pieces went flying and some fell off. With that, it seems new pieces had to have been installed and thus we get a new-look Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: Episode IX.

This is one of those rumors that doesn’t really change anything. Regardless of how the Falcon ends up looking in Episode IX – as long as it doesn’t get a paint job and turns green or pink or something like that – it’s inconsequential to the storyline.

The Millennium Falcon has changed several times throughout the course of the Star Wars movies. It wouldn’t be surprising if it changed looks again.

Given all that the ship has been through – plenty of fights, fleeing monsters, running blockades and so much more – it was bound to go through some cosmetic changes.

Rumor level: Low

It’s not that I don’t believe rumor since it’s completely plausible and makes sense. It’s just that it doesn’t change the course of the story. The Millennium Falcon has been a character in its own right in Star Wars, and like all the characters, they change and grow and get new hairstyles.

This is no different.
