KOTOR II writer confirmed for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

One gaming industry veteran has confirmed he’s working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Does this raise the expectations of the game?

Industry veteran video game writer Chris Avellone confirmed his involvement in Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which is due for release this Autumn 2019.

Taking to twitter over the weekend, Avellone replied to a user inquiring about his future endeavors, confirming he just finished working on Fallen Order, before teasing a future, to-be-announced project, likely to be revealed in the next month. The full exchange can be found here:

Following further investigation, Eurogamer’s Emma Kent confirmed the extent Avellone’s involvement. However, it is interesting to note Avellone has spent the better part of 11 months providing “story work, story and character reviews, and cinematic scripts for the game”.

Avellone’s more recent contributions include2018’s Into The Breach, 2017’s Prey, and 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas, all of which were praised critically for their narrative and character work.

More importantly, for Star Wars fans at least, Avellone served as Lead Designer and Writer for 2004’s Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. KOTOR is a series many Star Wars fans hold near and dear to their hearts, as typified in our own Matt Rose’s top 10 Star Wars games feature.

Having a seasoned veteran, one with a history in one of the more quality moments in Star Wars gaming, on board with Fallen Order, can only be a good thing. It certainly ramps up the anticipation as we lead up to Star Wars Celebration, where we are likely to see and hear more from the next video game release.
