Oscar Isaac hints at an expanded role for C-3PO in Episode IX
Oscar Isaac is at it again. The last time we heard from the actor, he said fans would be satisfied with the end of the Skywalker story. Now Isaac has more to say about another iconic Star Wars character.
Recently, Oscar Isaac spoke to late night host Jimmy Fallon (video below) and is right on cue Star Wars: Episode IX came up. Oscar offered a few small details, including Anthony Daniels was “super emotional” about wrapping up Star Wars.
While not giving too much away, Isaac noted Daniels seemed to have more fun this go round than in the first two sequel trilogy films. He then offered a small but golden (pun intended) nugget talking about C-3PO and how “we got to work a lot together.” Suggesting a larger role for the protocol droid.
That would appear to be good news. There is or was a rumor that C-3PO would use Chewbacca’s bowcaster. Although this was never brought up in the The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon segment. Early in March, the Star Wars actor said he thought fans would be “blown away” by Star Wars: Episode IX.
For going a long stretch of time with no news. Oscar Isaac, would appear to be a spokesman of sorts for Disney and Star Wars. He has certainly been the most vocal and visible of the cast and crew as he has done a media tour for Netflix’s Triple Frontier.
He is giving information out but not too much at a time and just enough to whet the appetite. It’s probably calculated, but we can only hope Oscar shares more.
Episode IX is scheduled to release worldwide on December 20.
