12. Asajj Ventress

Asajj Ventress has a sad story. While she is seen as a killer, her life is filled with despair and heartache, and used that to fuel revenge she sought for those she had lost.

Her life started with her family being forced to give her up as an infant. Then her guardian is killed. When Asajj is found by a Jedi master who trains her, he is then killed.

Revenge is what pushes her forward and those that crossed her paid the price. Yeah, maybe her tactics were a little rough around the edges and bloodier than most, but people learned not to cross her.

I’ll take that. Too many times people are crossed and push boundaries without consequences. Asajj was that consequence.

But then after all the heartache, she escaped assassination attempts, Asajj learned empathy and compassion. She helped Ahsoka Tano during her time of need when Tano was framed for a crime.

Then, she sacrificed herself to save Jedi Quinlan Vos and finally understood forgiveness.

Asajj’s journey is a fascinating one. It started with heartache and ends in compassion. While many may see her as an assassin, Asajj shows tremendous growth and that’s what makes her inspiring. There is room for growth. Not everyone needs to stay on a path even if it’s filled with destruction.
