The Star Wars: Episode IX trailer has finally been released. It showed someone holding a medallion, but who did it belong to in the first place?
We have a trailer! We finally have a Star Wars: Episode IX trailer! Thank The Force! There is a lot to take away from the teaser trailer, including that awesome title, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. However, we’re going to start off with something small first by looking at who the medallion belonged to in the first place?
You’ll see the official trailer for yourself in just a second, but in it, is a moment where we can see someone holding a golden medallion. It only lasts for a couple of seconds, but it is long enough for us to get a good look at it.
Some fans will immediately remember who it belongs to, however, some us would have been left scratching our heads at what the connection is. Before we go any further. Have a look at the official Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer yourself just below. (The medallion is shown in the teaser trailer at exactly 1:33 if you fancy skipping through it.)
OK. So, now that you have had a good look at the teaser. Let’s get to the medallion. It appeared in the original trilogy, at the end of Star Wars: A New Hope, during the award ceremony following the destruction of the Death Star.
Han and Luke were both awarded a medal each, so the assumption is it’s either Luke’s or Han’s medallion. There is a funny joke going around saying that it is, in fact, Chewie finally receiving his medal for the role he played in the destruction of the Death Star, but we doubt it’s that. Although I do agree, Chewie should finally get his medal.
So, is it Han’s, or Luke’s, medallion?
We’ve already had Han’s famous dice appear in the newest trilogy, because of that, I would make the assumption of how this is Luke’s medallion. Some fans have been speculating it is Leia who is holding it as well, so this could be the moment where she reflects about Luke, who is now gone.
It’s a working theory at the moment and one we might not crack until the movie is released, but if I had to place good money on who it belonged to, right this second, I would go with Luke.
What do you think? Is it Han’s or Luke’s medallion featured in the trailer? What did you think of the Star Wars: Episode IX teaser trailer as a whole? Drop a comment just below sharing your thoughts.
