Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order reveals Star Wars Dark Souls?
New details about Respawn Entertainment’s latest Star Wars game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order were on full display this weekend at Star Wars Celebration.
EA has made two Star Wars games thus far and both have left Star Wars fans with mixed reactions for various reasons. So when they announced Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, people were skeptical and concerned it would be full of loot boxes. There were a lot of concerns about this game, putting a lot of pressure on EA and Respawn Entertainment.
The story of Jedi: Fallen Order is about a Jedi Padawan named Cal, who survived Order 66 and is hiding in plain sight working as a miner deconstructing old clone war ships. When a worker is about to be eaten alive by a giant alien creature, Cal uses the force to save him, exposing him as a Jedi and forcing him to go on the run
On his journey, Cal is joined by a robot companion named BD-1, which means buddy Droid. BD-1 is not Cal’s sidekick, but his equal and they are on this journey together. He is also joined by Cere, a former Jedi Knight, who serves as a mentor to Cal.

Respawn describes the gameplay as thoughtful combat, meaning that you feel out your opponent and learn their weaknesses which seems to allude to a Dark Souls inspiration for the game’s combat. You can also change lightsaber forms to better deal with certain enemies.
Cal’s abilities and lightsaber moves can be upgraded to make him more powerful, you can also upgrade BD-1 as well. Cal can also acquire gear to change how he looks.
Respawn and EA have announced that this game will have no loot boxes or microtransactions. It’s said this will be a truly single player experience… though I’ll believe it when I see it because this is a bit out of character for EA.
Overall I’m interested in this game. The gameplay sounds interesting, but I wish they would have showed actual gameplay during the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order panel instead of just talking about it. The story also sounds interesting and it will be intriguing to see if Cal survives the events of this game or whether the Second Sister or Darth Vader kill him.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order arrives on November 15, 2019.
