21. Nien Nunb – North Carolina
North Carolina isn’t just a vacation destination, it has a long and storied history in American innovation. The words “first in flight” is very meaningful to the state, just as are the names, Orville and Wilbur Wright. The Wright brothers are credited as building and flying the first aircraft and it happened just outside of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. One of the galaxy’s best pilots, Nien Nunb would admire the state for its flight-based history.
Nien Numb was originally a smuggler before becoming a member of the Alliance Fleet. He served as a co-pilot for Lando Calrissian on the Millennium Falcon during the Battle of Endor. Nien Nunb’s assistance proved to be very effective in the fight. The Millennium Falcon evidently destroyed the second Death Star with a precise shot. The destruction severely harmed the Empire’s efforts after the Battle of Endor.
The expert pilot continued his career, later appearing the sequel trilogy. Nien Numb was revealed to be a starfighter pilot in the Resistance with the ranking of Lieutenant Commander. Nien assisted in the Battle of Starkiller Base as a member of the Red Squadron. He also fought at the Battle of Crait and is currently one of the few surviving Resistance members heading into Episode IX.
