27. Saw Gerrera – Nebraska
Nebraska, which is also referred to as the “Cornhusker State,” resides in the Great Plains and Midwestern region of the country. The official state motto of Nebraska is “equality before the law.” One character that lived by that same message was Saw Gerrera.
Saw Gerrera made his live-action debut in Rogue One. Saw led an extremist group of the Rebel Alliance in a fight against the Empire. He was a veteran of the Clone Wars and became hardened for all that he lost. Despite all of that, Saw never stopped fighting. He led his team from the ancient planet Jedha. Even though his tactics were a bit extreme, the mission of taking down the Imperial forces remained the end goal.
Saw also served as Jyn Erso’s mentor and caregiver after rescuing the girl after she was left alone in Lah’Mu. Years later, Saw reunited with Jyn in Jedha as he passed along a message from Jyn’s father, Galen, involving the fatal flaw of the Death Star. While there, the Death Star fired a destructive shot at Jedha. Jyn and her friends had enough time to escape, but Saw stayed behind with his planet. Saw fought for his beliefs until his very last breath, never giving in to the Empire.
