33. Jyn Erso – Kansas
The Midwestern state of Kansas is known for its agriculture. The “Sunflower State” also happens to be the setting of the famous novel and movie, The Wizard of Oz. The tale is about a young woman named Dorothy who leaves her farm to go on a journey where she and meets a number of friends along the way. She also learns a lot about herself, similar to what Jyn Erso goes through in Rogue One.
Jyn Erso, daughter of scientist Galen Erso, grew up on the farm of Lah’Mu before she was taken in by Saw Gerrera. She also spent a lot of time on her own and became a criminal for the crimes she committed in order to survive. Jyn was later recruited by the Rebel Alliance to find her former caregiver, Saw. It was on that mission that she found a message from her father about the Death Star and its fatal flaw.
Jyn attempted to save her father from the Imperials, but it was unsuccessful. She then went on another mission with her squad to Scarif to steal the plans for the Death Star. She and Cassian infiltrated the security base and successfully transmitted the plans to the Alliance. It turned out to be a suicide mission, but she learned a lot about herself along the way.
