37. Obi-Wan Kenobi – Delaware
Delaware was one of the original Thirteen Colonies before the Declaration of Independence in 1776, creating what we now know to be the United States. Delaware was also the first state to ratify the Constitution which gave it the nickname of “The First State.” The state led by example and the same could be said with Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was the first Jedi that Luke Skywalker ever met. Before their meeting, Obi-Wan went through his own training as a Padawan to Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. He went on to become a powerful Jedi, even defeating the Sith Lord Darth Maul. After Qui-Gon’s death, Obi-Wan took young Anakin Skywalker under his wing. After the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan became a Jedi Knight and a member of the Jedi Council. He tried to stop Anakin from becoming Darth Vader, but instead, he was forced into exile.
While in hiding, Obi-Wan took the name Ben Kenobi. He then got a message from Leia Organa asking for help in the Rebel Alliance’s fight against the Empire. Obi-Wan urged Luke to join the effort after revealing himself as a Jedi. He served as a mentor to Luke and later got another chance at fighting Darth Vader. Obi-Wan sacrificed himself, so that Luke could escape safely and continued to provide guidance to Luke after his death as a Force ghost.
