42. Darth Maul – New Jersey
New Jersey is home to one of the most popular legends – the Jersey Devil. Dating back to the early 1900s, sightings of the Jersey Devil have been made out of the Pine Barrens. Although descriptions of the creature tend to vary, it’s always described with sinister details. New Jersey could easily match with another legendary and evil being, Darth Maul.
The Sith Lord trained as Darth Sidious’ first apprentice. The character of Darth Maul first appeared in The Phantom Menace and is best known for his double-bladed lightsaber. Maul was a fierce fighter and his combat skills were very intimidating. He was tasked of capturing Queen Padmé Amidala which led to multiple lightsaber duels. At one point, Maul fought Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan Kenobi simultaneously.
Maul was a member of the species Zabrak, native to the planet Iridonia. They are known for the multitude of horns on their heads, similar to that of a devil. Maul’s skin was red but covered in patterns of black tattoos. He had yellow and red eyes, similar to the rumored Jersey Devil’s glowing eyes in multiple versions of the lore. The Jersey Devil shows no signs of having a lightsaber, but we’d assume the creature would be on the dark side if it had a choice.
