44. Greedo – New Mexico
New Mexico has a very diverse landscape ranging from forested mountains to arid deserts. It also happens to be the home of Roswell, the site of an alleged UFO crash site. The rumored incident propelled Roswell’s tourism with as the obsession with alien obsession grew. If we had to pick a Star Wars character that resembled a classically described alien, it would definitely be Greedo.
Greedo was a bounty hunter from the planet Rodia, but he grew up on Tatooine. The Rodian species were known for having green reptilian skin, big buggy eyes, and saucer-like antennas on their head. Even though the species were home to a swamp planet, Greedo felt comfortable living in the desert of Tatooine.
Greedo often worked for Jabba the Hutt which is how he encountered Han Solo. After Han lost Jabba’s cargo on a mission, Greedo was hired to find Han. The bounty hunter tracked down Han in a cantina in Tatooine and confronted the human. The scene in which Greedo was killed went on to become the much debated “who shot first” scene. This wasn’t the only time Greedo got into conflict with a major character. He also fought young Anakin after accusing the boy of cheating at Boonta Eve Classic.
