50. Yoda – Florida
The state of Florida is a major destination for retirees of the elderly nature. The state is also known for its multitude of swamps. Both of those factors would be very appealing to the swamp-dwelling, elder character, Yoda.
The ancient Jedi Master was first introduced in The Empire Strikes Back when Luke visited him in the swamp planet Dagobah for guidance. He initially didn’t reveal his true identity to Luke as a way to test the young man. Despite reluctance due to Luke’s behavior, Yoda finished his training. Before Yoda passed away at the age of 900, he revealed to Luke that his training is complete, but he won’t be a Jedi until he confronts his father, Darth Vader.
Yoda wasn’t just an integral part of Luke’s journey in Star Wars, he played a big role as during the rise and fall of the Republic. Yoda was initially the one to make Obi-Wan a Jedi and gave his blessing in Anakin’s training. He also saves Anakin and Obi-Wan from Separatists by dueling and defeating Count Dooku. In Revenge of the Sith, Yoda was the leader of the Jedi Council in their pursuit of Darth Sidious. Yoda was eventually forced to hide in Dagobah but that didn’t stop others from revering him as the wisest being in the galaxy. Even after death, his Force ghost provided guidance.
