5. Poe Dameron – Colorado

When you think Colorado, the Rocky Mountains probably come to mind. Even though the state is home to many mountains, it also has geography that includes canyons, deserts, and plains. Colorado is also the location of the United State Air Force Academy. If Poe Dameron lived in the U.S., he would have surely gone through the academy.

Poe Dameron is a decorated pilot for the Resistance. As one of General Leia Organa’s most trusted commanders, Poe is given the task of retrieving a part of the map on Jakku which detailed Luke’s location. Poe gets captured during his mission, but later escaped thanks to Finn. After the duo crash on Jakku, Poe is presumed dead, but he arrives with a squadron of X-wing pilots to fight the First Order at Maz’s castle. He also attacks the Starkiller Base causing it to explode.

Poe is also a vital member of the Resistance’s efforts in The Last Jedi. At first, he gets too reckless and makes a move that ends up greatly hurting the efforts of the Resistance. After staging a mutiny, Leia eventually puts Poe back in his place while respecting his determination to save their people. Poe leads a counterattack on the First Order during the Battle of Crait, but they are overpowered so he safely leads his group so they can escape. Poe’s admirable leadership will continue in Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.
