Star Wars: If Emperor Palpatine cheated death, could Luke Skywalker have?

The cackling laugh of Emperor Palpatine at the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker teaser trailer has fans theorizing different scenarios

Ever since Star Wars: The Rise of  Skywalker teaser hit, fans have racked their brains to make sense of the return of Palpatine — or at least some form of him. Coming off the controversial death of Luke Skywalker, could he return as well?

As was revealed in Revenge of the Sith, the Dark Lord of the Sith was supposedly taught how to cheat death by his master Darth Plagueis. We also know Palpatine killed his Master.

When The Force Awakens came out fans wondered who Supreme Leader Snoke was. Could he have been Darth Plagueis?

While it is unknown if Luke Skwalker studied the Dark Side while on Ahch-To, if he did then the Force would have had balance. But IF Palpatine has successfully cheated death, what’s to say someone else has not? Anakin Skywalker was all about finding out how to cheat death.

Given that he became a Force ghost, it suggests he did not. Or at least he did not fully find out how to cheat death. But what’s to say he did not find out enough to pass on to Luke? We know that Rey is in possession of the ancient Jedi texts. It is possible she found out the mystery?

What if Rey is able to resurrect Luke from the dead? I freely admit this is an out-there idea. Perhaps in the end like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker understands that he is more powerful in death. Either way, the teaser trailer opened lots of thoughts and ideas.

What are your theories on Palpatine’s apparent return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker?
