25 greatest Star Wars fighters of all time
24. Poe Dameron
Poe Dameron is the new fly boy in the Star Wars universe. He’s someone who loves being in the air and we see him not only in the new trilogy but in Star Wars Resistance. Like Leia Organa, he’s a bit of a different kind of fighter. He’s trained, but being in the cockpit is where he feels at home.
With his flying skills, Poe is able to take out the competition in the air and he makes it looks easy. We’ve seen how much damage can be done with a ship before (Luke destroying the Death Star), so he deserves a spot on this list.
Since the current trilogy has been playing a balancing act between the original characters and the new ones, it’s hard to say if we’ve seen Poe Dameron’s full potential at this point. In The Last Jedi, he wants to fight and has a bit of a problem following orders. However, his willingness to get out there and risk his life for the greater good is what makes him a great fighter pilot.
He’s more than just a pilot, too. He’s one of Leia’s most trusted operatives and he’s often asked to go on missions that require him to be on the ground. We see in Star Wars Resistance that he’s very adept with a blaster. He and Kazuda Xiono are able to escape after Captain Phasma shows up at Station Theta Black. Phasma, a great fighter in her own right, isn’t someone who is easy to get away from (just ask Finn).
