Why The Rise of Skywalker won’t beat Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame is the 22nd movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2008. That alone is crazy considering that staying power the franchise has.

While there is always plenty of talk about Star Wars fatigue, it’s rare that anyone talks about Marvel fatigue. I didn’t hear anyone say they were just too tired of Marvel movies and didn’t want to see Endgame. Instead, people were lining up and couldn’t wait to go see it.

Those 22 movies all led to this — and if you have been watching Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther and all the others, you want to see it conclusion.

That’s picking up a lot of fans for the last 10 years with movies catering to different audiences. They all came back for the final one to learn the fate of their beloved characters.

Star Wars hasn’t done that. While Episode IX is the culmination of a nine-episode story spanning 40 years, it’s similar fans with new ones brought in to the mix year-after-year.

In the MCU, if you’re not a fan of Thor but love Black Panther, you still have a vested interest in Endgame. The same can’t be said for Episode IX. You’ve been on this ride the entire time.
