There is a theory floating around that suggests Darth Vader’s mask not only kept him alive but may have been possessed by the Emperor, which is brought to us by Screen Rant. Let’s actually roll with this theory and see is this one is plausible.

Fans know KylosRen was drawn to the Darth Vader mask in The Force Awakens, seeking it for some guidance.
“The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural,” Palpatine told Anakin.
If it is true what Kathleen Kennedy said about the Emperor’s return had been in the works for some time then it COULD give this theory a little backbone. It could then possible the Emperor possessed the mask in order to draw Kylo Ren to him.
Charles Soule’s Darth Vader comic series ended with the tale of Lord Momin.
Momin had conducted a Force ritual that got interrupted by Jedi. The imbalance in the Force caused Momin’s ritual to go wrong, and his spirit was trapped inside the mask he wore. That mask became one of Palpatine’s treasured possessions, and the Emperor freely confessed he learned many lessons from Lord Momin.
He finally gifted the mask to Darth Vader.
Also in comics and books the Palpatine was looking for ways to live on. If he is returning, which appears he is in one form or another in The Rise of Skywalker, then he shows just how powerful he is.
It’s possible that he was able to possess or control Darth Vader’s mask, but this doesn’t seem likely. Most stories of spirit possession of objects have occurred when the host body is dead and can no longer hold it. That was not the case in the original trilogy.
But anything is possible in the Star Wars Skywalker Saga finale.
What do you think about this possible Star Wars theory?
