Matching Star Wars characters with their Game of Thrones counterparts

Anakin Skywalker and Daenerys Targaryen

In comparing Anakin Skywalker and Daenerys Targaryen, it’s interesting how similar the two characters are.

Anakin Skywalker is supposed to be the chosen one who will bring balance to the force. He’s one of the most skilled Jedi, and the potential was there. However, he takes an unfortunate turn because of fear, anger, and love, which leads to his eventual fall to the Dark Side. And thus, Darth Vader was born.

For Daenerys Targaryen, she comes from a difficult childhood, and eventually rises to power. As a result, she liberates and frees slaves. She looks to be the hero everyone needs in Game of Thrones. However, that all changes in her last battle.

In the Battle of Kings Landing, despite surrender from Lannister forces, Daenerys shows no mercy along with her troops and Dragon. She practically burns the city to the ground, taking many innocent lives. She now has become the Queen, however, this reign did not last long, as Jon Snow took her life in order to protect others. She had plans to hurt more people in the future.

In Star Wars, the hope is that Anakin will not fall to the Dark Side. Unfortunately, he does. In Game of Thrones, the hope is that if Daenerys does end up being the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, that she will not be like her father by going mad and taking innocent lives. However, she ends up being the Mad Queen, which leads to her demise.

Daenerys and Anakin both lost people who were close to them, which led to their dark turns.

At the end of the day, power and fear tormented these two characters. When you think about it, they really are so much alike. They go from being the hero to the enemy.

The story’s of Anakin Skywalker and Daenerys Targaryen are both tragic.
