17. Rey fights Kylo Ren
Movie: Episode VII – The Force Awakens
Characters involved: Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn
Rey grew up only depending on herself for much of her childhood. It wasn’t until she left Jakku and experienced more of the galaxy, she realized she could be an important piece in the war against the Resistance and First Order. Rey is the only one who could totally throw Kylo Ren off his guard.
After the attack on Maz’s castle, Rey is kidnapped by Kylo and taken to Starkiller Base. She was kept in restraints while Kylo used the Force to read her mind.
She surprisingly stops him and instead read his emotions which revealed a lot of his fear. It was this moment that they became more like equals which became a threatening concept to Kylo.
Later on, when Rey and Finn are escaping from the base, they encountered Kylo in the forests. Kylo knocked Rey out and faced off with Finn in a lightsaber duel. Finn was overpowered, but Rey used her Force powers to grab the lightsaber and face off with Kylo.
Even though Rey had no experience with the lightsaber duels, she was able to match his strength. She even slashed him on the face, leaving a giant scar. She defeated him and allowed Chewbacca enough time to rescue her and Finn.
