9. Poe destroys Starkiller Base

The introduction of Poe Dameron rounded out the major new cast additions to the sequel trilogy. He’s a member of General Leia’s Resistance, more specifically, a star pilot of the fleet. Poe first encountered Finn after being captured on Jakku during a special mission to retrieve the map locating Luke Skywalker.
It seemed that Poe might have been killed after he and Finn’s escape ship crashed, but that was not the case. He made it back just in time for an important mission. Poe led his squadron to fight against the First Order who attacked Maz’s castle. After the battle, he reunited with BB-8 and his new friend, Finn. But that wouldn’t be his most important mission in the movie.
After Han, Chewie, and Finn infiltrated Starkiller Base by lowering its defense shields, Leia sends Poe and his X-wing squadron to destroy the superweapon. After attacking Starkiller Base and fending off the TIE fighters, Poe managed to fly through a containment center which led to heavy damage. Poe caused the chain reaction that dealt a huge blow to the Resistance but he refused to leave without his friends on the Millennium Falcon.
