8. Qui-Gon Jinn’s last fight

Movie: Episode I – The Phantom Menace

Characters involved: Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Maul

Qui-Gon Jinn was first introduced in The Phantom Menace as a wise Jedi Master. He and his apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi, often traveled to solve political tension. While on one of their meetings, they save Padmé Amidala and eventually encounter a young Anakin Skywalker.

Qui-Gon put a lot of hope into Anakin, believing the young boy was the “Chosen One.” He requested that Anakin be trained as a Jedi due to his Force ability, but the Council was reluctant and refused. Qui-Gon vowed to train the boy on his own but that plan was short-lived.

By the end of the movie, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan run into Sith Lord, Darth Maul. The duo entered in a lightsaber duel with Maul in the hangar. Daul managed to trap Obi-Wan and focused solely on Qui-Gon. The Jedi and the Sith Lord were evenly matched, but when Qui-Gon got off-balance, Maul dealt him a deadly blow.

Obi-Wan returned and cut Maul in half before aiding his mortally wounded friend. It was Qui-Gon’s dying wish that Obi-Wan train Anakin as he still believed the boy would bring balance to the Force.
