9. Michelle Rodriguez

Michelle Rodriguez has proven time and time again that she’s a formidable badass, and it’s time she joins the Star Wars universe.

She’s known most for her role as Letty Ortiz in the ongoing Fast & Furious franchise where she blends acting and action perfectly. Her work on Avatar as pilot Trudy Chacón is also a notable experience in the realm of science fiction.

With Chacón going out in a blaze of glory on Pandora, that also frees Rodriguez from any future obligations to the franchise, which has movies scheduled in between each of the next three Star Wars films. She could fall right in line within Star Wars, potentially as a hardened warrior whose gunman and hand-to-hand combat skills are unmatched.

Back in 2017, Rodriguez’s involvement with Fast & Furious was up in the air when she posted to Instagram saying she would back out of the ninth film unless the franchise would “show some love to the women.” Last month, the film secured a female screenwriter and Rodriguez agreed to come aboard, telling Bloomberg:

"“I felt like there was not enough of a female voice in the franchise. You should evolve with the times, not just pander to certain demographics that are stuck [in the past].”"

Star Wars has certainly championed stronger female leads in the sequel trilogy through Rey, General Leia, Admiral Holdo, Rose, Captain Phasma, and Jannah (one of the newest cast members in The Rise of Skywalker).

Adding more female talent in the way of screenwriting and directing is the next necessary step for greater representation in the franchise and would also incline more performers, like Rodriguez, to want to join Star Wars.
