Star Wars: Episode IX: How is the title translated from around the world?
While we know Star Wars: Episode IX is called The Rise of Skywalker, the translation of that title from around the world gives new context to its meaning.
Translating Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker can be tricky. Words have a way of losing or changing meanings in translation.
Around the world, The Rise of Skywalker differently such as The Ascent of Skywalker in Spanish or Star Wars: Skywalker Rebirth in Poland. In Japan, the title has been translated to Dawn of Skywalker.

Putting all these together, suddenly the meaning of the Episode IX title looks a little differently.

When looking at them all together, it certainly makes it seen more likely Skywalker could become a new religion, especially given Episode VIII was The Last Jedi. If the Jedi are gone, then what does that leave because the Force didn’t go anywhere just because Jedi and Sith are no longer.
Also, there is the possibility that Skywalker are more of the Grey Jedi. Going down the road of all light or all darkness is not feasible. People are complex. Yes, people that are also in a galaxy far, far away.
But dooming Force users to Jedi or Sith, you remove choice from their life. Mistakes mean going to the dark side. Jedi means following a path of riotousness that doesn’t necessarily lead to the goodness.
People are somewhere in between, including Rey. While she is a good person and will protect people, she does have a link to the dark side. She touched it so easily in The Last Jedi and used it when fighting against Snoke’s guards.
And you can’t tell me that someone fighting the way she did means light. Death and destruction no matter whose name you invoke is darkness.
Perhaps now The Rise of Skywalker – or the dawn of Skywalker — means the beginning of something new. The beginning of accepting nuances and not being so rigid as to what people are and can be.
