Luke vs. Jabba

Sometimes it doesn’t need to be about everyone and everything. Fighting for your life is good enough.

Luke fights for his friends in Return of the Jedi when he rescues Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt.

While the path to saving him was long and roundabout, and led to a Sarlacc Pit, Luke fought for his friends’ freedoms. Jabba captured solo and Chewbacca, and Leia was forced into Jabba’s harem.

Luke was the only free one until he entered Jabba’s Palace and wound up in the Rancor pit. However, Luke fought his way out and had a plan in place in case he was captured.

While they were on Jabba’s barge and were supposed to be dropped in a Sarlacc Pit, Luke had hidden his lightsaber in R2-D2 and magically had it spring out of his dome when Luke needed it most.

He fought Jabba’s guards, Boba Fett and everything else thrown at him to save his friends. Though it was Solo, who couldn’t see, that wound up knocking Boba Fett into the pit, it was Luke’s rescue that allowed it to happen.

Thankfully, Lando Calrissian was there to help as well since he was disguised as a guard.

Although Leia was also a prisoner, she used the distraction to save herself – though more on that later.
