The new season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Disney+ won’t premiere at launch

The final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is still coming to Disney+, but it might drop later than you were expecting.

When new episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars were announced at San Diego Comic-Con way back in July 2018, it felt like we were going to have to wait forever to see our old friends again.

While we’re down to counting months instead of years, there’s still going to be quite of a wait before Season 7 hits Disney’s upcoming streaming service, Disney+.

More from Star Wars: The Clone Wars

While shows like The Mandalorian will launch along with the platform on November 12, new episodes of The Clone Wars won’t actually be available for a few months after that.

You can expect new episodes of the show to hit Disney+ in February 2020. Which means you have plenty of time to rewatch all five seasons, plus the “lost episodes” of Season 6.

We learned at Star Wars Celebration back in April that Maul and Ahsoka will come face-to-face in an epic duel — not a duel to the death, since both characters survive (spoilers?), but it’s still going to be awesome.

Ray Park, who played Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, even did motion capture to make his lightsaber moves look even more realistic.

While no official trailer has been released, you can watch a low-quality version of the preview from Celebration. It’s still pretty cool.

The series will reportedly feature episodes along the timeline all the way up to Order 66. If you’ve read E.K. Johnston’s Ahsoka novel, you might already know some of the absolutely heartbreaking things we’re probably going to see in the finale.

It’s going to be worth all of our collective tears. In Dave Filoni we trust.
