Rogue One prequel series will shoot next year, no title yet
Announced in 2018, the Cassian Andor-led Rogue One prequel series also had a presence at the showcase. Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk, who reprise their roles as Rebel spy Cassian Andor and security droid K-2SO, asked Kennedy if they could announce a title. The Lucasfilm president declined, saying, “Not quite yet.”
Described as a “spy thriller,” the series is set during the formative years of the Rebellion before the events of the 2016 film. The series is in pre-production and scheduled to shoot next year for a 2021 release date.
Obi-Wan Kenobi series announced
After a star-studded event, Kennedy returned onstage for a “one more thing” moment and introduced Ewan McGregor to thunderous applause. It was reported leading up to D23 weekend McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequels, was in negotiations for his own series. In Hall D23, his return to the franchise was officially confirmed.
Originally reported to be a film, the Disney+ series will star McGregor as the Jedi Master eight years after 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. According to Kennedy, the scripts for the series are completed and filming is expected sometime in 2020. A release date was not announced.
The Clone Wars season seven gets a release date
The seventh season of animated series The Clone Wars finally has a release date: Feb. 2020. A new image of Ahsoka Tano facing Darth Maul was released on Friday to accompany the announcement.
Set between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, the series ended in 2014 before fully wrapping up its story. In 2018, it was announced a final 12-episode season would be on Disney+. The new season is expected to fully connect the series with the events of Revenge of the Sith.
