The glimpse of the Imperial fleet in the most recent Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker teaser got us thinking about what they’ve been up to for the last couple of decades.

Star Wars fans are still breaking down the The Rise of Skywalker teaser from D23, analyzing every little clip and mili-second to get information.

It seems one of the potential spoilers that came out about a month ago may have been confirmed through the teaser. The moment in the teaser didn’t last long, but that’s all Star Wars’fans needed.

More from Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker

Warning: Potential spoilers ahead.

Making Star Wars had news of a potential superweapon in The Rise of Skywalker about a month ago. But there was a little more to it than that. It all tied into Palpatine and his fleet hiding out in the Unknown Regions.

We all saw that moment in the teaser with the Imperial Star Destroyers all dropping out of hyperspace. It was glorious, amazing and got our heart racing. But it seems there may be a little more to them than just being the badass Star Destoyers they have been.

All those years away from prying eyes had to change something and it seems that the Red Sith Fleet and whomever else is with them have figired out a way to add laser cannons to the Star Destoyers — essentially making them mini Death Stars.

Rather than destorying one massive orb that derailed the Empire and parts of the First Order, it seems the remnants of the Empire are now super mobile and much harder to destroy.

Perhaps it could be what leads Rey and Kylo Ren to help each other. I didn’t get the feeling Kylo Ren wanted to destroy the galaxy, just control it. If someone else decides to destroy it, then perhaps he will do what he needs to save it.

Clearly, it’s just speculation because while we have lots of little tidbits, we don’t have clear picture yet on what The Rise of Skywalker will be about. But Palpatine and part of the Imperial navy is back.
