Doctor Aphra

Star Wars has a current fun character that hasn’t seen the screen yet (although there is specultion that Ming-Na Wen might play in The Mandalorian).

Doctor Aphra.

When I first started reading the Doctor Aphra comic, I found her to be ridiculous in all the best ways. She reminded me a lot of Han Solo, though, in female form. She always was also more ambiguous when it came to being bad or good.

While Han Solo lived in shades of grey, you always felt as though he would pick the lighter side of the options.

Aphra does not make such choices. Aphra usually picks what’s best for Aphra.

She’s selfish, self-destructive and manages to get herself in the worst situations. Aphra is her own worst enemy. But her stories are so entertaining.

Doctor Aphra would be a fun TV series, filled with comedic moments that we don’t often get from Star Wars. We don’t need shows that always feel as though the balance of the galaxy is at stake. We can have a little fun too.
