Star Wars rumor: Rey will have a new power in Episode IX
There’s a new rumor floating that Rey will possess a new power in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. As with any rumor, take with a grain of a salt.

We’re nearly 100 days from the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which means the rumors and leaks will likely start heating up. The latest one comes from Making Star Wars, which generally has reliable sources, but it is just a rumor.

As with any rumor, please take with a grain of salt until it’s something that can be confirmed.
This latest rumor suggests Rey will have a new power in The Rise of Skywalker. While many force powers have a way of destroying (like force lightning), in this case Rey can do the opposite. She has the power to heal.
Here’s what Making Star Wars writes:
"Source says: “Rey and crew do get attacked by a sandworm alien, which reveals an inexplicable new super power Rey possess: the power to heal or even rejuvenate life. The heroes battle the creature and almost kill the worm and then she uses her powers to repair, or heal, or even bring it back to life.”"
If true, Rey wouldn’t be the first Jedi with the power to heal. There have been other Jedi who have the unnatural ability to speed up the healing process. Though we’ve only seen it in what is now described as Legends stories.
The interesting aspect about this is that while it seems Rey uses her power to save, there is the implication that she can “rejuvinate life.” A way to perhaps prolong life. That’s what Palpatine had been searching for — and seems to have found some way to do it considering he is now in Episode IX after he was considered dead.
Perhaps Palpatine seeks Rey for her innate ability to perform this power. In the Legends books, there were users who were able to heal others on the brink of death.
It’s a fascinating ability to possess and one that would be be very useful.
