Is the desert planet in the opening scene Jakku, Tatooine, or somewhere completely new? Are we looking at the lush Endor, the Mandalorians home planet Mandalore or somewhere we haven’t seen yet?

Throughout the trailer, there are shots of several different planets that the Mandalorian travels to. Some are very realistic aerial shots, whereas others are cinematically in front of or around him and other characters.

Very rarely do we see any shots from space which is an interesting tactic. This could mean that the show will focus more on the location itself as opposed to watching him physically travel.

If that is the case then this will be the perfect opportunity to develop planets we have already seen and been to further or introduce fans to new places.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear about some familiar planets to keep the connection of what is new in the galaxy attached to what was seen in the original films.

The Mandalorian could easily be arriving at Tatooine and wander to a place that we haven’t seen yet to interact with locals we didn’t know existed. There is a fine line between showing something that is so familiar it becomes uninteresting or too new that it becomes a hit or miss.

While I really hope that the show revisits some planets I have come to love I would also be open to seeing new planets and cultures.
